Peru’s vibrant coffee culture is deeply intertwined with cooperative structures that support small farm cultivation. A prime example is the Central de Cafetaleros del Nororiente (CECANOR), which comprises dedicated coffee producers across more than 70 communities in Northern Peru. These producers practice organic farming methods that honour their cultural connection to the land, typically cultivating coffee on a few acres alongside shade trees, bananas, corn, and beans.

CECANOR invests in essential infrastructure, including road improvements and the establishment of local warehouses, while also providing comprehensive technical support to farmers. This assistance spans from seed selection to guidance through the certification process. Partnering with the export company PROASSA, CECANOR ensures meticulous preparation of coffee for export, maintaining traceability and quality control throughout the post-harvest phase.
