Panama
Panamanian coffee, once underrated, gained recognition through the Best of Panama competition and the popularity of the Gesha cultivar, known for its floral notes. The best Panamanian coffees, typically from high-altitude areas like Boquete and Volcan in the Chiriqui district, are bright and fruity with clean floral aromatics. While lower-altitude coffees serve commercial markets, increased land investment has reduced coffee acreage across Panama. High-quality farms are often small and family-owned, employing N’gobe workers under favourable wage standards for the region.
